Vol. 225 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Walkinstown (Dublin) Development.

39.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will ensure that the local authority concerned will carry out the development of Walkinstown Cross, Dublin at an early date.

40.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the dangerous and unsightly condition of Walkinstown Cross, Dublin; and when traffic lights, proper roadways and footpaths will be provided there.

I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 39 and 40 together.

A scheme of road improvements including the provision of a roundabout which would eliminate the unsatisfactory features at this junction, was proposed by the road authority concerned, Dublin County Council, and approved by my Department in 1958.

Difficulties associated with the acquisition of the necessary land, have held up the execution of the works. I understand that the road authority have certain proposals in hands to get over these difficulties.

Question No. 41 postponed.
