Vol. 225 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Corporation Housing Draw.

18.

Mr. O'Leary

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of those expected to take part in the Christmas draw for newly-weds under Dublin Corporation's housing scheme; and the number of houses available for them.

I understand from Dublin Corporation that they do not intend to have any draw at Christmas for newly-weds' houses and that in the past such draws were generally held at Easter. The whole question of rehousing newly-weds will fall to be reconsidered in the immediate future by the Corporation when the provisions of the Housing Act, 1966, are brought into operation.

Mr. O'Leary

Are we to understand that there will be no special treatment of the position of newly-weds? Is this what the Minister is saying; that no draw will, in fact, take place?

No. What I have said is that these draws have always been held at Easter rather than at Christmas.

Three months out of date.

Mr. O'Leary

Go back to Pakistan.

When did Christmas start falling in the middle of March?

The Deputy should not be so boisterous; he is not on television now.
