Vol. 225 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Substandard Housing Schemes.

19.

Mr. O'Leary

asked the Minister for Local Government whether it is intended to close down substandard housing schemes as a result of Dublin Corporation's recently concluded examination of the housing lists.

I understand that the Corporation's current review of the waiting list has not yet been completed. While I have no doubt that all aspects of housing policy will be considered by the Corporation in due course in conjunction with the results of this review, it is unlikely that they will be in a position to undertake immediately the closure and replacement of any Corporation dwellings which may be below present day standards in accommodation and amenities. At the same time, the necessity for the replacement of such dwellings as soon as practicable is accepted.
