Vol. 225 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Pedestrian Crossing.

13.

asked the Minister for Local Government if a pedestrian crossing will be provided near the junction of Brewery Road and Lawnswood Park with Stillorgan Road, Dublin to enable local residents and visitors to the St. John of God's Home, coming from the Bray direction to cross the road with safety at that point.

The provision of pedestrian crossings is a matter for the local authority concerned acting at the request, or with the consent, of the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána. I understand that Dublin County Council have examined the question of providing a pedestrian crossing at the location mentioned by the Deputy but having considered all the facts, including the results of pedestrian counts, have decided not to provide a pedestrian crossing there.

It is a wonder the Minister did not say there that he would get somebody to introduce Deputy Andrews to Dublin Corporation.

To Dublin County Council: Stillorgan is in County Dublin—not in the city—and therefore comes under Dublin County Council.

The county council, so.

I shall get Deputy Andrews to give Deputy L'Estrange a lesson on the geography of Dublin city.
