Vol. 226 No. 3

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Control of Pesticides.

2.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will make an order to control the use of pesticides and chemicals for agricultural use.

Pending receipt of the report of an expert working party set up by FAO on official control of pesticides used in agriculture, I feel that it would be better not to come to final conclusions at this stage. It is hoped that the report will become available in the near future, and I will then pursue consultation with Comhairle na Nimheanna, as required under the Poisons Act, 1961, on the question of what action should be taken.
