Vol. 226 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sewerage Schemes.

25.

asked the Minister for Local Government the date on which he received contract documents for the Ballintra, Pettigo and Gortahork sewerage schemes from Donegal County Council; and when he proposes to sanction them.

Contract documents for the Ballintra, Pettigo and Gortahork sewerage schemes were received in my Department on 24th November, 1966, 11th May, 1966 and 6th January, 1966, respectively. I am not yet in a position to indicate when approval is likely to issue thereto.

Does the Minister consider it reasonable to hold contract documents for a period of 14 months without giving a decision? Furthermore is he aware that Fermanagh County Council, who are joint promoters of the Pettigo sewerage scheme, have already put up their portion of the money concerned a considerable time ago? Will he ensure these contracts are sanctioned by him forthwith to enable the work to commence in the very near future?

These questions have to be decided on the basis of priority——

Priority or money?

——and none of these is high in the order of priority in Donegal County Council.

26.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he expects work to commence on the new sewerage scheme in Moycullen, County Galway.

I understand that the consulting engineer has not yet submitted his revised preliminary report on this scheme to Galway County Council. I am not in a position to say when work will commence.

27.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he expects work to commence on the new sewerage scheme in Oranmore, County Galway.

I understand that a consultant has not yet been appointed for this scheme by the local authority. I am, therefore, not in a position to say when this scheme will commence.
