Vol. 226 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Position of Firm.

29.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will now make a statement on the present position of a firm (name supplied).

The firm referred to has, as the Deputy is aware, been in the hands of a Receiver since the end of February, 1966. I understand that due to a general recession in business, such as has been experienced by similar concerns elsewhere, the firm has now on hands sufficient orders to keep it in production only until the end of this month. If by that time there should not be a significant revival of orders, the Receiver will, I understand, then find it necessary to place the undertaking on a care and maintenance basis. The Receiver's efforts to sell it as a going concern have not, so far, been successful.
