Vol. 227 No. 5

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Gratuity to Forestry Workers.

60.

asked the Minister for Lands the reason for the delay in payment of compassionate gratuity to retired forestry workers.

There are a number of factors governing the grant of compassionate gratuities, which may give rise to delay in individual cases. If the Deputy would indicate the specific cases in which he is interested, I will have them looked into and let him know the position.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that a number of these applications for a compassionate gratuity have been under consideration for well over 12 months? These are people who have given a lifetime of service to the Forestry Department and a number of whom have passed to their eternal reward while the matter has been under consideration.

They will get more than they got from the Forestry Department.
