Vol. 227 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Comments of Six-County Premier.

2.

asked the Minister for External Affairs whether his attention has been drawn to the import of recent speeches made by the Six-County Premier, Captain Terence O'Neill, in Berlin regarding federal government within the United Kingdom; and whether he has any comment to make on the matter.

I have seen newspaper reports of the speeches to which the Deputy refers but I do not think that any comment is necessary.

Does the Minister think it fair to the German Government that an Irish politician should be making speeches likely to confuse the German Government about the identity of this country?

I understand that the visit was handled by a German organisation called Inter-nationes, not by the Ministry of External Affairs.
