Vol. 227 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Value of Exports.

4.

(South Tipperary) asked the Taoiseach the value of per capita exports for 1965 and 1966 in respect of (a) the Irish Republic and (b) Northern Ireland.

In 1965 and 1966 the f.o.b. value of total exports per head of population in the State was £76.9 and £84.5 respectively. For Northern Ireland the published figures for total exports for 1965, the latest at present available, yield a per capita level of £312.4 It should be pointed out that the values included in the Northern Ireland figure for exports to Great Britain, which cover more than 90 per cent of the total, are based in the main on estimates furnished by the various harbour authorities in Northern Ireland. The basis of valuation is not known and may differ from the normal f.o.b. customs valuation.
