Vol. 512 No. 6

Written Answers. - Road Network.

John Dennehy

Question:

309 Mr. Dennehy asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 316 of 30 November 1999, he has received an application from Cork Corporation (details supplied) for a grant of £1.5 million towards the commencement of work in 2000 on the proposed link road between Ardrostig Cross, Bandon Road and Curraheen Road as part of its submitted annual roads programme. [26925/99]

On 12 November 1999, my Department received Cork Corporation's application for funding under the specific improvement grants scheme involving eight schemes totalling £1.1 million in 2000. The proposed link road between Ardrostig Cross and Melbourne Road was not included among those schemes.

On the basis of information received from Cork Corporation on a courtesy basis my Department is aware that the above link road is included in Cork Corporation's draft road works programme for 2000. In these circumstances, it is a matter for Cork Corporation to consider whether to prioritise this road for funding from its own resources supplemented by discretionary grants from my Department.
