Vol. 227 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Preservation of Killedan House.

22.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he will ensure that plans which the Land Commission have do not interfere with the preservation of Killedan which is associated with the poet Raftery.

Killedan House stands on a property of 129 acres which is at present being divided by the Land Commission. In view of the associations of the place with the poet Raftery, the house portion is not scheduled for disposal in this division. Instead the Land Commission are holding over the house and about 17 acres of land and they are initiating inquiries with the Office of Public Works, Roinn na Gaeltachta, Bord Fáilte and any other bodies who may be interested with a view to discovering the best means and appropriate body to cater for the preservation of the house.
