Vol. 228 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Burtonport (Donegal) Harbour.

12.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will make a grant available for the blasting of a rock in the entrance channel to Burtonport harbour, County Donegal between Rutland Island and the mainland, as it is causing a serious obstruction to boats entering the harbour.

My Department is at present actively considering the question of the removal of this rock hazard and the carrying out of other harbour improvements at Burtonport and as recently as 31st March a conference of technical officers of my Department, the Office of Public Works and An Bord Iascaigh Mhara was held to examine the latest proposals. I cannot, however, at this stage say what works may be finally approved or when they could be commenced.
