Vol. 228 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Galway Fishery Harbour.

13.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries what is the present position in relation to the proposed fishery harbour at Galway; and when work on the project will begin.

The Government have already announced their decision to develop Galway and four other ports as major fishery harbour centres. I cannot as yet indicate the date of commencement of the work at Galway.

Can the Minister say when he first announced his decision on this?

I cannot, offhand.

Does the Minister not think it is about time, after about ten years?

I do not see what that has to do with the other question.

It has a lot to do with it. It is one of the election promises he made.

We keep them, generally.

The Minister can keep them for the next election.

The Deputy need not worry.
