Vol. 228 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork City Housing Advertisement.

15.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of replies received, if any, to the recent advertisement by the National Building Agency for the provision of 1,800 houses in Cork city; and when it is likely that the necessary examination of the replies will be completed so that a firm contract may be entered into.

I am informed by the National Building Agency Limited that at 7th April, 12 replies were received to the advertisement inviting outline proposals for the Cork/Limerick project of 2,600 dwellings. Two of the replies were confined to the 800-dwelling Limerick section only. Analysis of the technical, organisational and financial aspects of the replies is proceeding and discussions are being held with the interests involved. It will be necessary to consult with the local authorities also at appropriate stages. In these circumstances, the Deputy will appreciate that I could not at this stage answer the last part of his question.

How many of the replies were from Irish concerns?

I have not got that information. The Deputy will have to ask a separate question about that.
