Vol. 228 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Electricity Supply.

3.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will request the ESB to provide electric current for the houses in the FíorGhaeltacht of Loughnahirk, Glencolmcille, County Donegal.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that Loughnahirk is situated in their Glencolmcille rural area which was originally developed under the Rural Electrification Scheme in 1954-55. Under their planned post-development programme the Board expect to undertake a recanvass of the Glencolmcille area in about two years. All unsupplied house-holders who accept the terms offered can then be connected to the electricity supply.

In the meantime cases meriting special consideration under the farmhouse scheme may arise in this and other areas and I am asking the ESB to take this fully into account in their programming.
