asked the Minister for Health if he will state in respect of each health authority the number of hospital beds or cots for children; and what steps will be taken to increase the number of such beds.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hospital Accommodation for Children.
As the information requested is in the form of a tabular statement I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.
As regards the second part of the question, the Deputy will be aware that since the War there has been a substantial increase in the provision of hospital accommodation for children and infants including the building of a major children's hospital at Crumlin. The position as to needs is kept under review and adjustments in the provision for this purpose are made by re-organisation of hospital use or by new building.
Following is the statement:
Numbers of children's beds and cots in health authority hospitals—the numbers given relate to beds which are specially designated for children; many hospitals may have in addition beds which are used for children or adults as required.
