Vol. 229 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Old Age Pension Claims.

28.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is aware that a person (particulars supplied) who was 70 years of age on 11th September, 1966 had his claim to contributory old age pension disallowed; and that, having then made a claim for noncontributary old age pension on 2nd November, 1966, he was allowed it from the date of application and not from the date on which he was 70 years; and if he is prepared to have this situation rectified.

Payment of non-contributory old age pension from the date on which the claimant attained the age of 70 has now been made in the case to which the Deputy's question refers.

29.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason for the delay in dealing with the application for old age pension of a person (name supplied) which was sent to Limerick on 6th March by his Department for investigation and has not yet been returned.

Notification was received from the clerk to Limerick Old Age Pension Committee on 7th instant that the committee had granted full pension in this case. A pension order book has been issued accordingly.

I am having inquiries made as to reasons for the delay which occurred in the clearance of the application.
