29.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is now in a position to state, with reference to a reply of 25th April, 1967, the amount of the increase in the price of social welfare insurance stamps to become operative from 1st January, 1968.

Provision is being made in a Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill, to be introduced very shortly, for increased rates of social insurance contributions which will become operative from the 1st January, 1968. The increases proposed in the rates of contribution covering all benefits will be 3/2d a week shared equally by employers and employees. The Bill will be circulated to Deputies with an explanatory memorandum in the usual way and details of the various new rates of contribution will be shown in the memorandum.
