Vol. 229 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Issue of Pension Books.

30.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is aware of the excessive delay in many cases of the issue of new old age pension books when old ones are recalled and of consequent severe hardship to old age pensioners; and, if so, if he will take steps to have this situation remedied.

I am not aware of excessive delay in the replacement of old age pension books, and if the Deputy will let me have particulars of any case in which excessive delay appears to have occurred, I will have it specially investigated.

I may add that special steps were taken to reduce to a minimum the number of cases in which a pension book is recalled for replacement and there has been very little complaint on this score recently.
