Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Motor Car Tax Rates.

13.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, taking into consideration that prior to 1st July, 1967, the tax on a 31 h.p. English assembled car was £37 10s representing the maximum on Irish-assembled vehicles, plus £27 representing 15 h.p. at £1 16s per h.p. and that the quarterly rate was £17 15s, he will now state what the annual rate and the quarterly rate is on such vehicles having regard to the further cut of ten per cent in any such differential between Irish and English assembled cars, which took place on 1st July, 1967, under the Free Trade Area Agreement with Britain.

As and from 1st July, 1967, the annual and quarterly rates of motor licence duty on a foreign assembled vehicle, rated at 31 horse power, are £61 10s and £16 18s respectively.
