Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Housing.

17.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of approved applicants for rehousing in the Rathdown area of Dublin County Council; the number of houses the county council expect to complete in that area this year; and what additional houses are proposed for the area.

I understand from Dublin County Council that 471 applicants from the Rathdown area have been approved by them for rehousing. They are not in a position, as yet, to indicate the number of dwellings which they expect to have completed this year but work is well advanced on schemes of 110 houses and eight flats at Cabinteely, and 16 flats at Stillorgan. Tenders have been invited for a scheme of 28 flats at Dundrum and efforts are being made to acquire further sites in the area.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of approved applicants in need of rehousing for Dún Laoghaire Corporation area; the number of houses the corporation expect to complete this year; and what additional houses are proposed for the area.

I understand from Dún Laoghaire Corporation that 350 applicants have been approved by them for rehousing, and that they are not in a position, at present, to say how many dwellings are likely to be completed in 1967. Tenders have been received by them for 18 houses at Rockford, and are being invited for 104 dwellings at Mounttown House. They have acquired sites and are preparing plans for an estimated 800 further dwellings.
