Vol. 231 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Grant of Planning Permission.

27.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will make a statement about the circumstances whereby the Munster and Leinster Bank, Westport, was granted planning permission by default.

I have been informed by Westport Urban District Council that an application for planning permission for the construction of new bank premises at Shop Street, Westport, on behalf of the Munster and Leinster Bank Ltd. was received on 17th May, 1966. Technical reports on the application were obtained and a copy of the town engineer's report was forwarded to the applicants but, due to a misunderstanding, a formal decision on the application was not made within the statutory period of two months and the planning authority had to concede that the applicants were entitled to permission by default.
