Vol. 231 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Employees of Galway Textile Printers.

42.

asked the Minister for Labour if he has been approached by the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union with a view towards establishing a redundancy compensation scheme in retrospect for former employees of Galway Textile Printers; and, if so, whether or not such a redundancy compensation scheme will, in fact, be formulated.

The answer to the first part of the question is "yes". As regards the second part, I have already made it clear that there can be no question of giving retrospective effect to the Redundancy Payments Bill.
