Vol. 231 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mountain Lamb Subsidy Scheme.

10.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the amount paid under the mountain lamb subsidy scheme in 1967; and if he will consider having the lambs marked in the farmyards instead of at appointed centres.

The amount so far paid under the Mountain Lamb Subsidy Scheme in 1967 is £166,500. The inspection and marking on farms of all lambs eligible under the Scheme would be extremely difficult if not impossible with the staff available. As many local centres as possible, 550 in 1967, were arranged. I am, however, having a further look at the Scheme in the light of experience gained during the last season.
