Vol. 231 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

13.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of group water supply schemes applied for to date in County Sligo; and the number of schemes completed.

Proposals for 25 schemes not subsequently abandoned have been received to date. One scheme has been completed, two are in progress, and four have been approved. The remaining schemes are at the various stages of preliminary investigation.

14.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he received a tender in May, 1967, from Laois County Council for erection of a purification plant in connection with the Castletown/Borris-in-Ossory water supply scheme; why it has not been sanctioned; and if it will now be approved.

A decision on the tender for the filtration plant for the Castletown/Borris-in-Ossory regional water supply scheme must await the outcome of the general review of such schemes which is at present being carried out by all sanitary authorities.

15.

asked the Minister for Local Government if a water supply to Monard, County Tipperary, will be made available in the near future.

The proposal of Tipperary (SR) County Council for a water supply extension to serve the Monard area was approved by me on 9th October, 1967.

16.

(Dublin) asked the Minister for Local Government what improvement is being made in the water supply to Ceannts Fort, Kilmainham, Dublin; and how soon the work is likely to be completed.

I am informed by Dublin Corporation that a new watermain is at present being laid to improve the water supply to Ceannts Fort, Kilmainham, and it is expected that the works will be completed in about two months time.

17.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Local Government if he is as yet prepared to sanction the borrowing from a society (name supplied) of £250,000 for Tipperary South Riding County Council to enable them to proceed with Stage I of the regional water supply schemes at Ardfinan, Dundrum and Emly.

I hope to convey my decision in regard to this proposal to the local authority in the near future.
