Vol. 231 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Castlebar and Athlone Housing Facilities.

46.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state with reference to a reply of 28th November last why he must discuss the relevant matter with the staff associations concerned before replying in the Dáil to the question as to whether any investigation has been carried out of the number of householders in Castlebar and Athlone who would be willing to take in boarders and, if so, with what result.

The question to which the Deputy refers was one of a number dealing with matter arising out of the proposed transfers which are appropriate for discussion with staff associations and which, in the circumstances, were taken together for the purposes of my reply.

The type of accommodation which will be required by officers whose homes are not in the vicinity of Castlebar or Athlone is clearly a matter on which discussion is desirable. Pending consultation with the staff. It is not proposed to make an investigation on the lines envisaged in the question.

Question No. 47 postponed.
