asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether he considers the recently announced increases in air fares between Ireland and England are justified in present circumstances; and, if so, why.

I have examined the case for this increase and I am satisfied that it is necessary to offset increased costs of the airlines operating on the short-haul cross-Channel routes.
