Vol. 232 No. 1

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Indebtedness of Harbour Authorities.

37.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power (a) the total amount of debt of all the harbour authorities at the latest available date; and (b) the cost of servicing this debt.

The accounting year for the majority of the harbour authorities scheduled under the Harbours Act, 1946, is the calendar year. The indebtedness of all scheduled harbour authorities at 31st December, 1966, which is the latest available date, was approximately £2,819,000 and the cost of servicing in that year was approximately £198,000.

As indicated in my reply to your previous similar question on 18th April, 1967, harbour authorities are required under the Harbours Act, 1946——

On a point of order, Sir, I am not aware that the Ceann Comhairle has addressed any questions to the Parliamentary Secretary in the recent past?

I think the Parliamentary Secretary changed his statement slightly.

I distinctly heard him address you and saying that in response to your question recently he had already said——

As indicated in my reply to the Deputy's similar question on 18th April, 1967, harbour authorities are required under the Harbours Act, 1946, to keep copies of their annual accounts available for inspection by interested parties on a payment of a fee of 1/-.
