Vol. 232 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Coast Erosion Schemes.

14.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (a) the number of coast erosion schemes submitted to his Department by local authorities; (b) the estimated cost of these schemes; (c) the number of schemes actually implemented; and (d) the total cost of the implemented schemes.

The Commissioners of Public Works have received 44 proposals from county councils under the Coast Protection Act, 1963. Estimates of cost, which have been furnished by county councils, amount to nearly £900,000. So far, no scheme has been implemented.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary be able to tell us when they will be implemented?

I could not.
