Vol. 232 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Employment of Election Officials.

13.

asked the Minister for Finance the total cost of employment of all officials specially designated to election work in the last general election.

I assume that the question relates to officials designated in section 11 of the Electoral Act, 1963. The total amount paid to sheriffs acting as returning officers, to deputy returning officers and to an acting returning officer for work done in those capacities in the last general election was £2,555 12s. County registrars act as returning officers as part of their normal duties and do not receive special remuneration for general election work.
