Vol. 233 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Strike of Postal Workers.

3.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will give an assurance that no disciplinary action will be taken against postal officials who are under threat of suspension or demotion because of their being members of the Post Office Officials Association and of their having taken part in the recent post office strike.

No postal officials are under threat of suspension or demotion because of their being members of a particular association. Disciplinary action, however, is under consideration against a number of postmasters and other supervising officers who took part in the recent strikes. In the case of such officers, the assurance sought by the Deputy cannot be given.
