asked the Minister for Finance the amount collected by the Exchequer during the ten-year period 1957 to 1967 from (a) budgetary taxation, (b) turnover tax, and (c) wholesale tax.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

(a) The total net receipts of taxation (Customs¹, Excise, Death Duties, Stamp Duties, Income Tax, Sur-tax, Corporation Profits Tax, Turnover Tax² and Wholesale Tax³) during the 10 year period 1957-58—1966-67 was as follows:

¹Includes Special Import Levy which was in force from the 2nd November, 1965, to the 30th September, 1966.

²Turnover Tax was imposed with effect from the 1st November, 1963.

³Wholesale Tax was imposed with effect from the 1st October, 1966.
