Vol. 233 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drogheda Housing Scheme.

20.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay in the sanction of layout plans for Ballsgrove housing extension, Drogheda, County Louth, and the approval of the draft house plans; and when Drogheda Corporation may expect to receive sanction.

The draft plans, which envisage the construction of 619 dwellings as an extension to an existing complex of 600 newly built dwellings, are under examination by technical advisers of my Department, with particular reference to the proposed method of sewage disposal, and its possible effect on the Boyne river. I am not in a position, at this stage, to say when a decision on the plans will be given by me, but I have arranged for an early conference between officers of my Department and of the housing authority with a view to reaching agreed recommendations on the proposal.
