Vol. 233 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly Planning Permission.

37.

asked the Minister for Local Government why planning permission has not been granted to date by Offaly County Council to an applicant (name supplied) for the erection of a private residence at Ballyclare, Ferbane, particularly as the applicant had entered into a contract for the erection of the house; the date on which application was made; and if he will cause an inquiry to be made into the delay in deciding this application.

I understand from the planning authority that an application for permission in this case was first submitted to them on 23rd September, 1967. As the application was not accompanied by sufficient information they requested further particulars from the applicant on 17th November, 1967. These were not furnished until 12th February, 1968. The planning authority must decide an application within two months of its receipt, or in cases where they request further information from the applicant, within two months from the date of receipt of this information. I am informed that a decision on the case in question will issue within the next week.
