Vol. 234 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fishing Rights.

16.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries whether the Government will consider introducing legislation to place all fishing rights on the rivers and lakes of Ireland in the hands of some statutory body in order to ensure that all such waters are open to the Irish people and their visitors, such a body to be responsible for the proper maintenance and use of fishing.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Deputy Molloy of 25th April, 1968. It is not my intention to introduce further legislation for the purpose suggested by the Deputy.
