Vol. 234 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Garda Station.

18.

asked the Minister for Justice the number of possible sites which have been submitted for the erection of a new Garda station in Limerick; if one has been selected; and when work will commence on the erection of the new station.

Six possible sites were offered in response to press advertisements by the Commissioners of Public Works. Following inspections, it has been found that none of these meets adequately our requirements in regard to location and suitability for building purposes. I have accordingly decided that, in the circumstances, the best course is to build the new station on the site of the existing station at William Street which is very suitably located.

While I shall press for priority in the provision of the new station, I cannot at this stage say when building operations will commence.
