Vol. 234 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Means of Old Age Pensioners.

52.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the total number of old age pensioners who have no means of support other than their pensions.

Approximately 19,000 non-contributory old age pensioners have no assessable means but many of these have some income or other benefit which is not assessed for pension purposes.

There is no means test for contributory old age pension and, therefore, no information with regard to the recipient's means.
