Vol. 235 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Facilities in Kerry Schools.

12.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the inadequate facilities at Longfield national school, Firies, County Kerry; and, if so, when is it proposed to carry out improvements to the school to relieve the present overcrowding.

The position is that it has been decided to amalgamate the Ballinillane national school with the Firies national school. In order to give effect to this decision the Commissioners of Public Works have been asked to furnish a report on the feasibility of providing two additional classrooms, a general purposes room and suitable toilet accommodation at Firies.

I understand that the Commissioners hope to be able to furnish the required report at an early date. My Department will then communicate with the manager in the matter.
