Vol. 235 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Santry (Dublin) Footpath.

18.

asked the Minister for Local Government what steps the local authority intend to take to provide an adequate footpath at Magenta, Santry, County Dublin.

I am informed by Dublin County Council, which is the responsible road authority, that a scheme of road improvements, including the provision of a footpath at the location mentioned by the Deputy, is being prepared. The scheme will involve land acquisition and the council are not at present in a position to indicate when the scheme will be commenced.

Would the Minister urge the council to take whatever steps are open to them to secure that this work is done with the maximum speed?

I will. As I said, it involves land acquisition and this is very often a slow process. Apparently it cannot be done without the land being acquired.

At least they could begin to initiate steps.

The scheme is in fact being prepared.
