asked the Minister for Local Government if he will give the latest available figures for the number of houses now inhabited which were built prior to (i) 1860 (ii) 1880 (iii) 1900 (iv) 1920 and (v) 1940 in (a) Dublin city and (b) in the rest of the State.

The only statistics available on the ages of the dwelling stock in this country are those obtained from the Census of Population which was taken on the 9th April, 1961. With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to have a tabular statement containing the relevant information, in so far as it is available from the Census, circulated with the Official Report.
