Vol. 235 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Accidents at Work.

3.

asked the Minister for Labour the number of (a) fatal and (b) non-fatal accidents at work in (i) 1966 and (ii) 1967; and the reason for the increase.

The numbers of accidents notified under the Factories Act, 1955, in these two years were:—

Year ended 30th September, 1966— 20 fatal and 2,529 non-fatal; year ended 30th September, 1967—22 fatal and 2,715 non-fatal.

With regard to the second part of the question, I would refer the Deputy to the annual report of the factory inspectorate for the year ended 30th September, 1967, which has been laid before the House.
