Vol. 236 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Arbour Hill Memorial Area.

51.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he will consider the provision of a railing at Arbour Hill, Dublin to cut off the burial memorial area proper from the church grounds so as to ensure that there is no vandalism by way of entry through the church grounds.

I am not aware that any acts of vandalism have taken place at the Arbour Hill Memorial grounds, and I do not consider it necessary to provide a railing as suggested by the Deputy. Moreover I am advised that, aesthetically, the provision of a railing would be objectionable.

The Commissioners of Public Works employ at the grounds a full-time caretaker whose house overlooks the grounds.
