Vol. 236 No. 6

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - IRA Service Medals.

24.

asked the Minister for Defence the number of IRA service medals deemed not to have been properly awarded by his Department.

Of some 38,000 Service (1917-1921) Medals issued prior to June, 1957, 652 have since been held, on re-investigation, not to have been duly awarded, when the applicants applied for special allowances. The medals issued since June, 1957 — more than 9,000 — are all regarded as having been duly awarded.
