Vol. 236 No. 6

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Repeal of Electricity (Special Provisions) Act.

34.

asked the Minister for Labour if he will consider taking steps to repeal the Electricity (Special Provisions) Act, 1966.

I have already made clear my view that repeal of the Electricity (Special Provisions) Act, 1966, should be subject to reasonable assurance that serious interruptions in supplies of electricity will not be caused by industrial disputes. I have recently received an Interim Report from the Committee on Industrial Relations in the ESB which will shortly be published. The Government, in their consideration of this Report, and the final report of the Committee when it is received, will have to review all aspects of industrial relations in the ESB, including the necessity to retain this Act on the Statute Book.
