Vol. 236 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Planning Appeal Decision.

46.

asked the Minister for Local Government why he has not yet given a decision on a planning appeal (details supplied) which he stated was ready for decision on 5th March last.

Permission in respect of this planning appeal was given on 18th October.

Could the Minister say why it took him eight months to make a decision on a planning application which he informed this House on the 5th March last was then ready for decision?

It was proposed at that time that the proposal be rejected but I felt that it was an application that might be allowed and sent it for further consideration.

Would the reason be that the Minister so neglected his duties as Minister for Local Government for nine months of this year that an application which was ready for decision on the 5th March was not decided upon until after the referendum and then only after the Minister had received a question which he knew would cause him no little embarrassment in the House?

It was ready for rejection on the 5th March.

Can the Minister say why it took him from then until the 18th October to have it further examined? It is a downright disgrace.

Question No. 47 postponed.
