Vol. 236 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clondalkin (Dublin) Recreation Centre.

45.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received an application from Dublin County Council for a loan to cover the cost of a site for a recreation centre in Clondalkin; if so, if he will give the date of this application; and when sanction may be expected.

An application, dated 12th September, 1968, for sanction to the raising of a loan of £41,500 for the purpose mentioned by the Deputy is under consideration in my Department. I am not in a position to say at this stage when a decision in the matter will issue.

The Minister is aware of the great difficulty that was encountered in trying to get a recreation area at Clondalkin. Could he give me any idea whether he is likely to approve or disapprove or could he say to the council: "I cannot give you the money; get it from your own resources." We are in danger of losing this land.

I will give a decision as soon as possible.
