Vol. 236 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Bay Pollution.

50.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether any action is being taken against the increasing incidence of pollution in the environs of Dublin; and whether the increasing pollution in Dublin Bay constitutes a danger to public health.

The control of pollution in Dublin and its environs is primarily a matter for the sanitary authorities concerned, who have informed me that it is not a fact that there is an increasing incidence of pollution in Dublin Bay and that there is no special danger to health in bathing at any of the recognised bathing places around Dublin.

Is the Minister aware of the statement made by the medical officer on this matter?

That is the information that I have from the sanitary authority. There was not a danger of pollution in Dublin Bay. That is the information I have from both the engineering and medical authorities.
