Vol. 236 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - School Language Instruction.

58.

asked the Minister for Education with whom the ultimate authority lies as to choice of the language of instruction in a primary school in the event of a difference between the school manager, the teachers and the Minister himself.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply of the 20th October. As stated in that reply the overall responsibility for educational policy rests with the Minister for Education and this responsibility must be exercised in the context of national policy. Every individual case would have to be considered on its merits and not on the basis of a hypothetical situation.
