Vol. 236 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hospital Electricity Generators.

95.

asked the Minister for Health the number of hospital institutions provided with emergency electricity generators; the number of requests for grants for such equipment at present under consideration in his Department; and from whom and when such requests were received.

A total of eighty-three hospitals throughout the country have been provided with emergency electricity generators over the past seven years. Twenty-three of these hospitals, mainly voluntary hospitals in Dublin, Cork and Limerick, were provided with new generators in the period May-June, 1968 under arrangements made by my Department. It is the practice to pay a grant in each case as soon as my Department is supplied with evidence of satisfactory installation of the generator, and under that arrangement grants have been paid in three cases and payment is pending in the remaining 20 cases.
